Tonya Rerecich, RN

Patient 02.01.2019

The Warrior Mom

In the summer of 2011, Tonya’s daughter, Addison, contracted an infection. Over three short days, Addie went from being a bright, athletic 11-year-old to suffering from septic shock with irreversible organ damage. Addie developed severe complications that nearly led to her death and spent nearly four months in the ICU, all because she was placed on the wrong antibiotics in the first place. But Tonya fought for her daughter through it all, and Addie survived. Today, Tonya fights for other patients by advocating for better diagnostic methods for serious infections.
